I’ve had my buns litter box in her hutch for a while, but she never uses it. I sometimes put her poop in there, so she knows that’s where it is supposed to go. Whenever she pees somewhere that is not her litterbox, I soak it up and put it in her litterbox for a bit. She still doesn’t get it! Any tips on how to get my bun to go in the litterbox? It would be very much appreciated

Is your bunny spayed? How old is she?  What does your litter box set-up look like and what kind of litter do you use?  Does she seem to urinate in another corner or where does she actually urinate if not in the box?

Make sure you have hay in or accessible from the litterbox.  Bunnies like to eat and poo at the same time.  If she has a favorite herb, like mint, cilantro etc, you might try putting some in there with the hay — and/or hide a real goody she loves in the hay in the litter box.  This will make going into the litter box more desirable.

I will wait on your response before I offer any further advice as I would need to know a bit more to see what the issue may be.

My bun is not spayed yet and she is around 2-3 months old. We just have a tray in there, and it is next to her hay. She seems to urinate in the opposite corner, and when I move the box to that corner she goes where the tray was. It’s very confusing, to be honest. We just have hay and newspaper shredding in there, and it gets cleaned out often. I don’t know what the problem is, but I will try putting some treats in there. : )

I have read that they don’t do very well with litter training until they are spayed / neutered, and we are probably going to get her fixed next month. By then she’ll be 4-5 months, and I think that’s a good time to get her spayed.. Correct me if I’m wrong : )

You are right. You may not have complete success litter box training a rabbit that hasn’t been spayed or neutered.

Ok thank you but is there any tips for getting her used to it without getting her spayed as quickly? I have a lot of other problems on my hands and taking an hour to just clean out her hutch is kind of tedious. Sorry I sound so needy lol

Do you have bedding or litter on the entire floor of the hutch? If so, that is confusing to a rabbit. You should only have litter in the litter box.

I only have litter in the litter box, and sometimes she digs it out but I put it back in lol.

Should I not be putting it back in?

She might stop after she has her operation, just hang in there, she will learn, but some bunnies like to throw their litter tray after they have their operation too, its a bunny game we don’t understand, but hang in there.

Ok lol its just she will be put outside if she continues going everywhere, and I know that seems mean to keep a bunny inside but there are so many flies outside just waiting for her lol but anyways thanks for all the replies we’re going to get her operation done soon.
