Ok so I usually spend all day with my bunny, so she’s used to company. But just yesterday we left to go camping. I felt really bad about leaving her, but someone was watching over her. This person watching her didn’t take her out of her hutch at all, none the less give her pets and loves. We were only gone for a day, so when we came back I saw she had a lot of food in there, so it’s not like she wasn’t being fed. As soon as I opeNed the door to her hutch, she didn’t come out for me. I don’t know if this was maybe because I had a different smell from the campfire. So I find her in the corner of her hutch and she still didn’t come out to me. She looked miserable. So I took her out and she had a little fun, but she didn’t seem the same. I’ve been showing affection to her, but she hasn’t really shown any back. Do you think she’s depressed, or just doesn’t recognize me? Right now she is warming up a little more, but not as much. She is still eating fine same with drinking and going to the bathroom. We just stopped her on milk also so when I checked her weight she was .2 Oz less, but I’m not super worried about that unless it gets worse. Does anyone know a way to get my bun happy again if it’s depression? I don’t want any sad bunnies!

She may have likely been confused why you were gone and missed you while you were away. Like you mentioned, it could also be that you smelled different than normal due to the camp fire. I would keep giving her all of the love and attention so she knows its you while trying to encourage her to eat a little more. If she doesnt start eating more in about 24 hours, i would set up an appointment with the vet to have her checked over just in case and possibly get her some critical care if she needs it

Ok thank you : ) She seems to recognize me more, but still seems a bit confused. I’m sure she’ll get over it.

She used to have a friend (sibling) but sadly he passed away a few months ago. She did miss him of course but has never shown depression for that reason, and we would get her a friend but we want to wait until she’s a little older and bigger, but I have tried getting one for her so she’s not lonely all the time. But thanks for the suggestion anyways! : )
