hey, so my bunny is a black Lionhead  Netherland dwarfs, he’s around a few months old, and I notice that the back of neck’s fur is very thin. I checked the skin to see if it’s swollen or  parasites and there’s nothing. The skin is just normal and I brush him with fleas comb daily. I also notice there’s a dark circular patch of new fur growing?. Is he molting? or is he growing his adult fur coats?. At first, I assumed it’s molting so I brush him daily just to make sure he won’t consume too much fur I also give him grass that I grow myself to help with hairball if there’s any. I’m just so confused right now. Should I take him to the vet, it’s 150$+( it’s a rip off in my opinion) to do a basic visit but I’m willing to spend it if it is necessary, please give me some opinion ASAP I’m so worry .

Sounds like shedding. It’s also worth noting that it isn’t unusual for young bunnies to have thin fur on the back of their necks. It seems to be more noticeable in lionheads, Jersey woolies, angoras, etc.

oh ok…. so that’s normal? I’m a first time bunny owner  so everything freaks me out.

If the fur looks thin on the back of the neck, then yes, that’s pretty normal. You also said you can see regrowth.

My Mini-Rex used to have thin neck fur.

And bald spots during a molt is very normal. My big bun has the top of his head bald and a big chest bald spot. Looks pretty awful but it’s fine. New fur will grow back. Make sure you brush daily during a molt to prevent ingestion of too much hair.
