My bunny thinks my bed is her litter box!  I thought her behavior would get better after she was spayed, but she’s still continuing to pee and poop all over my bed.  It’s really a huge issue because while I want her to be completely free range, I can’t trust her not to pee and poop all over my bed when I’m not in the room or, worse, when I’m sleeping!  I constantly wake up to pee and poop all over my blankets, which feeds into another issue– I’ve been keeping her in her cage at night due to this, and she rattles the cage ALL night long, I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in awhile!

How can I fix this issue?  It would definitely make both our lives easier!

How old is she? It might still be due to age and fingers crossed she’ll grow out of it.

Is your bed the type you could put up on risers? That would be a simple way to stop her getting up there but give her all that space underneath the bed.

She’s still a baby!  I’m not sure of her exact age but I think she is between 4-6 months old.  She usually has great litter box habits except for when she gets up on my bed.

I have a platform bed, so I can’t rise it any higher

For some girls it can take quite some time before hormonal behavior is over and done with after a spay. Some even needs 6 months.
That said, many bunnies do like to pee on beds and sofas, because they’re soft and full of their favorite human’s scent.
Can you put her cage in another room so you don’t have to listen to her rattling the cage? She’s probably madly frustrated With being locked up, but it is no help to either one of you if you don’t get your sleep.

I can’t offer any great advice.  When we first let Bunny share our bedroom, when we were away she’d jump on the bed and pee on the bed spread near the pillows.  A nuisance since we had to wash the bed spread.  We started covering the bed spread with a plastic sheet.  This stopped her behavior.  We used the plastic sheet for a few months and then stopped.  She no longer wanted to jump up on top of the bed.  I sort of think it was a marking behavior and she just lost interest I guess.  We had trouble with her marking a few other places in the house, but she stopped this behavior also.

Do you need to keep the bun caged at night?  I’d think if you were in the bed, she wouldn’t hop up.

Hello Luna, I had this same problem in the past. Autumn took a very long time to settle after spay, probably 3 months after being spayed (after which she was 10 moths old). all this time I had grin and beared the atrocious litter habbits as I refused to confine her, it was a heavy price to pay but eventully after washing the sheets asap after the accidents she slowly learned better and now she has excellent habits. she sitting and sleeps on the bed and loves it there, but having matured she now knows it’s not a toilet. I’m sorry the only thing I can say is it’s a waiting game. you can either do what I did or somehow stop her getting at the bed. Good luck.
