        Hi everyone,

I am having trouble with my bunny. She’s about 10 months old and some nights she starts thumping out of nowhere, which wakes me up and keeps me up for as long as it continues (sometimes an hour). I live with her in a studio apartment – it’s a large studio, and she’s on the other side – but still…you can see what a problem this is. I work long hours and this is hard on me

        Some info to help…

First of all we are pretty sure she is deaf, so I she’s probably not hearing anything scary.

She’s been in this same large NIC cage since she was a baby. Nothing has moved or changed.

She can’t see out a window.

When she thumps it’s a steady, repetitive thumping, once every 5 or more seconds. It isn’t always particularly loud or “angry” thumping, last night it was actually quite light but it still woke me.

Really I’m stumped. Why does she do this and can I make her stop?

Is it possible that there could be a mouse that she is seeing at night? It may be that she just doesn’t like being in the cage, and she is showing her displeasure. Is she spayed? If not, spaying could help to calm her down and to stop the thumping, but some rabbits will do that when caged.
