Hi my name is Laura. I have two female Lionhead sisters, killer and cinnamon. They’ve bonded for three years till now. Just had them spayed two weeks ago and everything was fine. We also have a lopped eared male named thumper. We rescued him 10 months ago. So we usually keep the girls in one cage and thumper in the other cage. A few nights ago I put them all in one. It is big enough for three. No problems for the night. The next night put the girls in one and thumper in his. That morning the girls cage was a disaster! Fur, bedding, hay, food!!? The girls were breathing really hard. I let them out to see them and killer just started going after cinnamon. Running down the hallway killer got cinnamon and it looked like a cat fight, there was fur all over. So they’ve been separated for two nights and I’ve tried to be a mediator. Killer is the alpha obviously. Thumper is doing nothing and killer went after him. He’s neutered the girls just got spayed. I’m really hoping it’s the hormones still lingering. I got home today and tried allowing them together but killer just went for cinnamon again. So put her in their carrier a d put her in a separate room. Cinnamon and thumper are chilling. This is the first time killer has ever done something to this extreme. Please if you’ve been through this or this may or may not be normal. Please help its breaking my heart!

They went from a pair to a trio, and doing that has messed up your girls bond. Youll have to keep them all completely separate for about two months. Each in their own cages and not free roaming together. The more you allow them to be together, the more they fight, the less likely it is that they will be able to bond again after the two month split. After this two month break, youll have to try bonding them in a neutral territory (a room theyve never been). Start short and often (2 minutes, pet everyone, put them back in their own cages; repeat an hour later). Youll do this for a few days then progress to longer times together. Youll keep progressing how long they stay together based on how well to get along the previous session. After there are NO fights or signs of aggression, move them to the pen and cage they will be sharing. Again, start short and often and slowly progress to longer sessions until everyone is completely comfortable with one another

Please note that not all rabbits will get along with one another. If after a few months of bonding (after the two month break) they just arnt getting along, dont try to force it. It will only cause more problems

Just an update, Evan though it’s only been 5 days. All the bunnies are sleeping in separate cages and not roaming around together. Killer has not showed any kind of aggression towards us so that’s good. Two months seem like a long way but I don’t want to take any chances of another fight. Thanks, very helpful.
