I was wondering how long would it be until it is safe to let my buns out for walks. My apartment complex decided to kill of the edibles (which they call weeds) so now I am not sure what to do…can I let them out? It has rained since a couple of times.

These herbicides are iron-EDTA based. Companies advertise them as pet-safe but I guess that is for dogs and cats. They obviously only eat a little grass at a time.

Consuming large amounts of EDTA like a rabbit would when foraging could throw off mineral balance or cause iron poisoning.

Even though it rained and the EDTA complex is soluble it still might not be safe if the chemical is trapped in the plant leaves.

Sorry about bun not being able to out for a while. I have worked with EDTA for over two decades in the chemistry lab and though it is not particularly harmful I certainly would not eat large amounts of it.
