        hi everyone,
one of my floor fairies, Miz Tobie had a run in tonight with one of my cats. it appears that the eye is either punctured or abraded. no blood but very “teary”. tried to get a hold of my vets but they both have mesgs telling me the other one is covering emergencies tonight (arrghh). I have given her a dose of pain meds (bupernex & gabapentin) until I can get her in tomorrow, but I am hoping someone else might know if other ways to help keep her comfy till then.
        thanks so much

ps. the nearest emergency vet is several hours away & doesn’t really do bunnies or we would be in the truck now.

I would go ahead and get her checked out with the emergency vet. Even if it is a little further away. Just to make sure it doesn’t get infected. Then schedule her to see her regular vet asap afterward.

Infection would be my main concern too, especially if the wound is caused by a cats claw, which can harbour lots of dirt and bacteria under it. You could wash out the eye with a saline solution, but I wouldn’t do anything else beyond that until you can see a vet.

Just rinse it with saline eye-wash for humans, by squirting the saline onto the eye and let it dip off. Don’t wipe or pat the eye etc. Just plain saline until you can see a vet. As Azerane says, cats can have some nasty bacteria on their claws, so the risk of infection is pretty high.
