Had a breakthrough with my surprise rescue velveteen lop (flopsie) and the now named Nettie-poo a nethie, from the shelter of all places. I finally got one of the xpens in, and while trying to give my girls as much room as possible set it up in a corner with the ends of the xpen attached to the walls so it takes up my entire dining room. Before, they were in a repurposed large dog kennel. I set it up, toys, cardboard house along with their dog crate for a hiding place and let them settle in this morning. Tonight I went in to sweep up the strewn hay and little presents and the previously very skittish bunnies actually came out to investigate. I gave them both treats (Nettie wouldn’t take one as per her usual) but flopsie took hers and stashed it then came up and started licking and nudging my feet. So I reached down and she let me pet her and even PURRED!!! I’ve only had these buns for around a month so this is huge! Wanting to see how well this went I laid down in the pen for a bit. Flopsie instantly started hopping over me, licking my glasses, face, and basically any skin she could find, nudging my hands for pets and cuddles, and even binkying all over the pen. When she stopped for a potty and snack break Nettie even came out to say hello and sniff me but wouldn’t let me pet her. (She’s still not fond of me due to my having to handle her to trim stuck on cecal pellets from her bum a couple of times, an ordeal we haven’t had to do in a while. Not to mention the time she escaped and I had to get her back in the crate)
Either way this is huge progress, especially for rescues!!! Im so unbelievably excited so I had to share!!!! I knew you guys would be the only ones to understand how awesome this was!!! *squeee*
