Hi all, my adorable mini rex bun is just 9 weeks old and has been with me for a week now. She’s settled in really well and she’s not scared of me at all anymore, but she has been out of her cage for the last few days and has started chewing walls, furniture etc. I was expecting this, but what I was not expecting is that she seems to think it is a game! She looks over at me, then goes and chews something, then waits for me to try and stop her and runs off… Then runs straight back and starts again!

At first I thought she was just doing it because she loves chewing, but now when she runs away she binkies and everything, then waits until I’m looking and starts again! I don’t want to start scaring her (I read some things about clapping and so on to stop her, but this seems cruel…), but I also don’t want her upsetting her tummy by eating plaster… And destroying my walls.

        Any ideas?

Give her some cardboard boxes, also what I did with my bunny to stop him from chewing things was get down to the same level as him and tell him no and that we don’t do that here, he soon learned and when he moved away from what he was chewing on he would give me a kiss and go and do something else.

LOL my mini rex does the same thing! Hes also not allowed in our bathroom, so he will slowly walk up to the door, stare at me, then step one paw into it. Once i say his name in a stern voice, he flies away and starts to binky everywhere! Love silly trouble making bunnies. Anyway, have you tried redirecting her with toys? My boys like wooden balls and dried corn stalk balls. When they start to chew on something they shouldnt, i roll one of their balls to them and they chew on that (most of the time) instead. If that doesnt work, i bribe them away with a pinch of pellets for each of them. Along with training your bun to stop chewing, youll want to rabbit proof. Here are some links that might help

They’re so cheeky!! I have a couple of toys but I think they just confuse her at the moment, she mostly ignores them haha. I’ll try to encourage that a little bit more. The bribery sounds more like her kind of thing, greedy little bun that she is. Bunny proofing looks like the way to go, I’ve moved pretty much everything that could hurt her but I didn’t think that the walls would be a risk too! I’ll look out for something to cover the corners with, thanks
