Do you give your rabbits supplement on a daily basis or only when they are sick?

I am looking at some Oxbow supplements but my rabbit is healthy, is it safe to feed her?

Hi! I give my 8 month old Holland lop Oxbow digestive support. He loves those things… It’s like cookies to him. I started giving him these tablets because he did very bad with fresh greens. I thought it may help. When I slowly started him on veggies at 4 months he got super sick from it. Massive diarrhea type of sick. I started him on the tablets at 7 months and slowly reintroduced veggies. So far he has mastered Arugula and baby Kale. Was it all just the tablet, I can’t say. Did the tablets hurt him? Definitely not. I’m guessing his tummy has matured and I’m sure the tablets helped him a little bit? They have all different types too. Joint supplements, etc. I have read many things about senior bunnies taking the Oxbow supplements and having success but I don’t think it’s really needed for a healthy young bun. That’s just my opinion though.

I give those Oxbow supplements once in a while mostly as a treat since it’s hard to say whether they are beneficial or not. They are safe but go with the recommended dosage on the bottle.

I’m interested in those supplements, too, as I have noticed a couple of string of pearl poops in Peyton’s litter box. Just wondering if it would help if he ingested a little hair.
