I got my rabbit from the SPCA back in November and was told she was a female. She was listed on their website as a female and her name was “Amber.” The paperwork they wrote out stated she was female and I even asked to make sure she was female. Forward about 6 months later to now, I notice these on my rabbit. She is played with and handled very often and I would have noticed these beforehand. ?

If she hasnt been spayed (which it doesnt sound like, being that shes only about six months old), she is definitely a he and what you are seeing are testicles

Heheheh… yep. Those are jewels, alright.

Don’t feel bad for not noticing them or for the SPCA not noticing them. Male bunnies can retract their testicles and even so, until they drop at 4-5 months (usually) they are pretty much impossible to spot.

My darling boy Chewie was originally Lilo, the girl bun. And then one day he decided to surprise mummy while playing with his favourite toy.

If the paperwork says unknown, then that means they don’t know if an animal was spayed/neutered beforehand and they didn’t do anything (because if they did, then they would know for sure). I’m sort of surprised they would adopt out without spaying/neutering first. That is the policy at most places. Oh well, I think that answers your question. You have yourself a boy. He just waited until now to make it obvious.

Me too!  They need to be careful if homing them intact.

@Lilybunny15, I have to agree. I think they are testicles.  If this happened to me, I’d be letting the SPCA know.

                    Do you have other rabbits?

I have a cat and they get along very well, that’s about it for pets though! Ever since I noticed this about my rabbit I also noticed she hasn’t really been eating a whole lot in the past couple of days. The weird behaviour is what made me check her in the first place to make sure everything was alright!

Hes likely going through puberty which can possibly turn him aggressive until he is neutered. I suggest taking him to your rabbit certified vet for an exam and preneuter blood work Plus, if his food intake has slowed down, youll want to go to a vet anyway to ensure its not the beginning of stasis which if not treated can kill a rabbit
