I been reading posts on this site since I sign in,  trying to do all I read since I got my Beny….he was born in Dic 2015 and I got him on Feb.7 …I have tried it all!!!!! and he does not come to me, he does not let me touch him but for a second…I cant do anything with him!  I am so so sad…I got a great cage for him…I let him play out as soon as I get home from 3 to 9 pm …he is just not a friendly rabbit! no matter what we tried ….I wanted for us to have a rabbit to cuddle to play to be able to even pet him! and this bunny is not into it at all! ….

we talk soft to him we lay on the floor for hours! I give him healthy food…veggies and also fruits…hay hay hay… I mean I have done it all! and nothing…all he does is hide and make holes on my walls ….I am really sad…I was even thinking of giving him away..i don’t want to sound mean….but what is the point? if we cant even pet him!… please help!!! what else can I do?…

        really sad here

        viv.

          Hi Viv,

I can understand your frustration, but please don’t give up. Most buns are not snugglebugs, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care about their humans.

Beny is still young, and many buns can take months or even years to develop deep trust with their parents (us).

Is Beny neutered? Unaltered buns can sometimes (but not always) be more manic.

Is Beny free range? Because you mention holes in walls… you could try bunny proofing your place by placing cardboard or something against the walls where he likes to chew and making him diggy boxes or chew distractions out of cardboard, phonebooks, etc.

One thing that really helps with bunny /hooman bonding is food and consistent hand feeding of even regular food like pellets and greens – it doesn’t have to be just treats.

Do you have or work near other pets or any smells you may not perceive but that might alarm Beny?

Let us know how it goes and remember that all bunny parents are on bunny time and bunny terms – so we sometimes have to just be patient for ages until the bun decides we’re ok and begins to trust us (they can sense frustration or stress as keenely as human babies).

Thanks….I feed him faith fully daily his vegetables and his hay around the same time…we have a yorkie he loves to circle him all day long… He runs all over all happy..but when it comes to being touched…he runs…I will take him to vet in two weeks to neuter him….also thinking that may help….I’m just so sad…and just wished we could pet him at least!…. I used to have bunnies when I was little and it was so much fun….this one is no fun at all….and I do love him….he even knows his name….??

Give him time, some buns are slow to trust, plus the neutering might well help. I had to wait 8 months for one of mine to accept even the briefest rub.
