I bought an extra large dog crate that came with a divider. It was for my lionhead, Lady Hoppington (who sadly never got to use it.) But I got my dad to take the cage divider and cut it so it fits as a perfect 2nd shelf, although the bar spacing is way too big and any future bunny I get will fall right through it. I’ve been thinking about what I can put over it to cover it and make it solid, but nothing has worked so far. The obvious thing is to use wood, but I don’t want that because if it gets peed on I won’t be able to clean it. When he cut down the divider, he used the extra piece to make a ramp, so any ramp cover ideas would be great too!! I’m hoping that I will have this cage ready to go for when I decide its time for a new bun!

What about coroplast? You could pierce it and use zipties to attach it to the shelf’s wires. For the ramp you could probably use a thin layer of textured wood, since it would be unlikely to get peed on. How about bark? Naturally textured.

              Annarose,

I have the exact same set up. I cut down the divider into a second story and used the extra piece for a ramp. On the second story, I zip-tied cardboard onto the metal and then placed a plush bathroom mat and fleece blanket on top to make it look and feel better. For the ramp, I bought the small grass mats you find at Petsmart/Petco. The mats come in threes and are tied together with twine. I just tied the mats onto the ramp using zip ties and it fit perfectly. Best of luck!
