I have two lion head bunnies that I have had for a year (got them when they were 6 weeks old). They are both females from the same litter and have been spayed for 7 months. They have always gotten along perfectly fine, but recently they have begun to fight with each other both out and inside their cage. This results in them being super out of breath and chunks of hair lying on the floor. I am beginning to worry about them as I do not any serious harm to come out of this. I try and break it up when it happens but they still continue to do it. During all the fights o have witnessed it seems as though the “older” (the other is the runt) bunny is the one chasing after the other. When they aren’t fighting they still seem to get along; sleeping next to each other, eating together, ect. What should I do?

You need to completely separate them (new cages, each in different rooms). Once fights happen more than once and are fur flying bad, the bond they had was broken. They dont like each other, so youll have to restart. Keep them each in their new cages in their new rooms for atleast two months. Allow them to forget about one another as it forces them to drop their grudges against one another. After that, youll have to try to rebond them in a neutral area until you feel comfortable enough putting them back into their old shared cage

Indeed, they have lost their bond.  I had two females who were bonded for years when I adopted them, and about 3 months later they started going at it.  It all happened over a 24 hour period, suddenly the older one wanted to kill the other.   No kidding, all out death matches.  I was never able to re-bond them so I had to keep them separated with a pet fence (they had their own room).
