        Hello everyone, I am not exactly sure which category to put this under, so here it is.

        I have decided that I will be getting Winifred a companion, hopefully in her best interest(;

        I am getting a fawn flemish giant..YAYYY!   Winnie gets spayed in one week but this flemish baby will not be ready for about another 2 months, maybe end of July. Which is ayy okay with me! I do have concerns, winnie is 7 months old right now. By the time the baby is ready she will be close to 9 months. Is it best to bond with a baby rabbit? Also, when I get this baby is it okay to keep the baby in the same room as Winnie but in its cage obviously,like while im at work.  Winnie is free roam in this room, she has the option to come out of the room but the furthest she will go is a couple steps in the hallway. Winnie is female is it best to bond with a male? Even if the male is not neutered yet. When I am not having a bonding session with the 2, where should the baby be kept? in a cage next to winnies? but not to close?  So many questions… I am so excited though, Hopefully Winifred appreciates this gesture ;P

          I do not know anything about bonded rabbits :/ When the two are bonded.. do they share litterbox and food and stuff? Winnie has a big dog cage in her room stays open 24 hrs a day, has her litterbox and food bowls and stuff in it.. When they are bonded do they share those things? Though my flemish will need bigger everything ;p Do any of you get new rabbit companion without a bunny date at first?

            You should wait until the male has been neutered, and for 2 to 4 weeks to pass, before you attempt bonding. That’s always the first step before you begin bonding. You can keep them in the same room, in different pens. If Winnie is free roam in that room, make sure that you have an extra barrier between her and the new one, so that no one can nip through the bars. You can surround his cage with an x-pen, or with a pen made from the cube grids.

            My rabbits have always shared litter boxes and food bowls, but there was not the size difference that you will have. Depending on how old the male is when you get him, he may still be on alfalfa pellets and alfalfa hay after he has been neutered and you bond them. Winnie would at that point be on timothy based pellets and timothy hay, so you might have to feed them separately for a while. Even when they are both on a timothy based diet, the Flemish will need a lot more food, so I’m not sure how you would handle that.

            I have bonded 5 pairs of rabbits over the years. None of them involved bunny dates beforehand. Mine were all easy, but maybe I’ve just been lucky.

              Thanks TobyLuv! Thats great advice! yes, winnie currently eats timothy now, she doesnt eat alfalfa anything anymore really. Okay, im glad i can keep them in the same room. Do you think doing so will help their bonding? Even though he will be in his cage?
