Venus hates being carried and she just got surgery yesterday. I want to check if the incision is healing okay and shes not ripping anything open…. BUT SHE KEEPS RUNNING AWAY. I don’t know how to grab her either because normally i grab them by the waist and support their butt with my hand but Venus is strong so I usually do it using a towel. I don’t want her to struggle and then rip the stitches open……

Could you make her meerkat for a treat? If you can do that and sneak a peek you’ll see if there’s sth that needs closer attention. Like excessive redness, excessive swelling, seepage from the incision.

But you’ll probably have to wait a little bit because now she knows you’re out to get her so she won’t be inclined to cooperate.

We bribed our lady bun for her incisions. If you have a treat (hers is cilantro) you can hold it up and make her stand up for it. While she’s grabbing treat, peek under and get a view.

            EDIT: Basically, bam approach

I took the advice and did something similar. I added more hay into their cage today and Venus darted into her litter box to get the fresh new hay that just arrived today (THANK GOODNESS SHE’S EATING). She did a lil meerkat stand trying to get some strands of hay peeking out over the top and I managed to get a look. The incision looks okay (though I’m pretty unnerved by it because I’ve never seen a surgical incision in my life haha). Nothing too red or oozing. Looks like she’s healing okay! Thank you guys for the advice
