Is it normal for rabbit to only shed their ears? I noticed flakes of skin last Saturday on the back of her ears, now is Wednesday, the area has grown. Hair and skin comes off when i pull on to it. She doesn’t seems like she in pain or is itchy. I never seen this before . Her ears look so scaly with skin flakes and really sparse thin hair now.

Hmm, I would have her checked for mite before assuming it’s just dry skin. Or you could treat for mites (Revolution) and if it gets better, then you’ll know that was the cause.

hmmm i probably might. Is just that i don’t see any other signs of mites like itchiness, crust, or hair loss at the back of the neck.

You’d be surprised at how little scratching bunnies do sometimes when they have mites. The nice thing about treating for the mites using Revolution is that if it isn’t mites, then no harm done and your bunny is protected from fleas and such for awhile. If it is mites, then it should become apparent after treatment.

where do i get Revolution? Is the vet going to let me have it without examining her?

I called one of the two hospitals, they said it requires a examination. I went online and found this:

is this the right one if i get up to 5lb?

That still requires a prescription there, I’m afraid. You might be able to get over the counter at a clinic. They will want to know your rabbits weight.
Usually the puppy/kitten pack is used for the average sized bunny.

Olivia used to get that once in a while. She would get like little scaly flakes on her ears and the fur would come off. I had her checked for mites and was negative. I used to just take a soft baby brush to her ears and then put a dab of mineral oil on the dry spots. But you need to rule out mites first.

If you’re established with the vet, you should be able to just buy it. My vet doesn’t carry it (oddly), but I will call them if I need some and they will fax a request in to another vet. I just go there and pick it up. No appointment.

I just got back from the vet office, did an examination. It is what i expected, could be just dry skin or mites. She said i can do a scrape test and/or the revolution dose. Since the scrape is a hit or miss, i went with the revolution. They applied one dose and going to see if theres any improvement in a month. Even if it is mite, it is very mild. Either way i didn’t think i could get the med without an examination first.

Examinations are unreliable, they often give false negatives. Since Revolution is so bunny safe, it can be used empirically (you give the med and if it takes care of the problem you have a diagnosis).
                            Good luck with the treatment!

yeah that’s why i felt like the examination was kinda a waste of money, but i think they won’t prescribe it to me unless they look at it.
I used to see dandruff near her butt couple months ago, but now it is a lot less to almost none.
Can i use lysol wipes to clean the floor and litter box?

I wouldn’t use lysol wipes around bunny stuff. I would just clean everything with hot water and vinegar and vacuum whatever you can, even the hard floor and toss the vacuum debris in a tied up garbage bag.
