Maki had her spay surgery more than a few months ago. Part of the procedure is to shave the belly fur. Maki was shaved from just beneath her ribs to her peepee. Most of the fur grew back pretty fast, the stuff closer to her floofer…but the part higher up her belly is still a square nakey patch. I know she is not pulling it out and the vet did not see anything wrong with it but thought it was strange. The assistant mentioned a cat that had a spay and had a bare spot for years after.

Maki did just change coat too. Her new coat is glistening and beautiful! She gets a lot of compliments on her fur.

I feed her a good diet of Timothy Hay, greens (mainly fresh organic dandelions right now but sometimes I switch it up for kale or Swiss chard for a change but not often) she sometimes gets a bite or two of other veggies like carrot or celery but mostly just left over bits. I sometimes guve her part of banana peel too since she loves it as a treat. I do not give her any pellets anymore.

Has anyone else’s buns had a nakey belly after spay surgery that did not grow back?

I just recently saw a pic of one of our members bunny who was spayed almost a year ago and still has baldness on her tummy. The member’s name is GIna.Jenny and the bunny in q is Jenny. Jenny has a superb fur, shiny and beautiful, but there’s still not so much hair around the incision area.
I don’t recall what thread the picture was in, but hopefully Gina.Jenny will see your post!

My little Bombur was neutered a month or two ago and still has a bare tummy. He had a ton of fur so they shaved and trimmed his lower belly. I think he likes it though, because he can sprawl on the cool coroplast to relax after running around all day. It looks kine of silly though, because the shaved part is slowly growing in and the trimmed part hasnt grown at all, so it looks like a slightly haired arm pit LOL

Gina was spayed the same day as Jenny, and her tum isn’t much better. If the rest of her fur is fine, I wouldn’t worry, the only thing I was concerned about was if they were outside, and lay on cold or wet grass.
