HELP!!!!!!! My rabbit ate linoleum that was coming up. Like a 2 inch by 1 inch rectangle. I am so scared. It was coming up and I pushed it down and it stayed so I thought it would be fine till we were able to replace the floor completely this weekend, but I woke up and there was a piece gone and no where to be found in the cage, litter box, or on the floor outside the cage. I’m so afraid of GI Stasis. Can I give him pineapple juice??? Or vinegar??? He’s eating fine. He’s chomping down on veggies right now and all his hay was gone when I opened the cage. I hope that is a good sign. Please help!!!!

That he’s eating is an excellent sign. Give him hay and water and wet greens. If he has eaten it, he’s had to chew it, and chances are good it will get broken down by his stomach acid. My Yohio once ate a piece about that size of a plastic hot water-bottle.

You can give him pinapple juice, the kind that has no sugar added. Or give him pineapple. Don’t give vinegar, it slows down the emptying of the stomach.

If he stops eating and pooping, gets lethargic, goes into hiding and won’t come out, doesn’t want to move around, then you can call a vet. They can give him fluids and a motility drug to help his gut.

Ok. So he’s pooping, but not that much. He’s done like 16-20 pellets since I emptied the box at 10:50. Is that bad??

i think like bam said, as long as hes eating, drinking and using the restroom hes gonna be okay. if he does what bam described then worry. i was the same way when flopsy had her hairball you can ask them i panicked cause she wouldn’t eat her pellets come to find out she needed the hay and greens to push out the hair. just watch him for not eating, no poops, not drinking and if he wont repond to his favorite food or treat.

So I just looked into his box again and there is no more poop than when I saw before. what do I listen for in his stomach??

Oh and he’s not eating any more veggies. I just gave him a third cup of lettuce to keep his stomach moving, but he doesn’t want anymore. He took the raisins though

As long as he takes raisins, he’s fine. At some point they don’t want more veggies, they’re full. But a treat should always entice them. It’s when a bun refuses to take treats you start to worry. You can offer him a raisin every hour for now. Or half a raisin. It’s a test I always use on my buns when I suspect there might be sth going on with their tummies.

Linoleum is not toxic and it’s made from natural materials, so it’s not really the worst thing a bun could eat.

Try and make him move around a little, exercise gets the intestines to move. Don’t chase him, just encourage him to move around a little. Like when you give him his raisin, hold it out from a distance and let him have to come up to your hand and get it.

Above all now, try and keep calm. Try to see this as an exercise in keeping calm. Keeping calm has lots and lots of advantages. First of all, you think more clearly and can observe more clearly when you are calm. That benefits your bunny.

Well it’s not really linoleum. It’s vinyl tile. Here’s the link to see them:
                    http://m.lowes.com/pd/Style-Selections-12-in-x-12-in-Ebony-Marble-Peel-And-Stick-Vinyl-Tile/999978538

I hope that’s not toxic too. I held his stomach up to my ears and I heard a little bit of popping. Not too loud but not too soft. Sounded like muffled tiny bubble wrap bubbles.

I am still scared to death. I’m acting calm but I am scared to death. I can’t lose him.

And on top of this there is that sneezing worry. But I am over the sneezing for now. this is more importsnt

And there’s still no poop in the litter box. I found one piece outside of it but nothing else. I am so scared.

He’s still hopping around and sniffing everything I do, so… But I’m really scared. :

I’ve had bunnies that have had tummy trouble. They’ve not been hopping anywhere, or sniffing anything. They’ve sat all bunched up, when lifted them up and put them down again, they just sunk to the floor right where I put them. My Bam once had a gurgling stomach – it was a loud gurgling. There should always be some little sounds from a healthy bunny’s tummy if you listen for a little while.

My Yohio has eaten plastic as I said before, part of a hot water bottle, half a cat toy. He never got sick. Not even remotely.

It’s very good that you are acting calm.

Keep observing him. You will do a good job of it.

Well even a vinyl tile could do no harm? What about the poop situation. He’s eating raisins and oxbow immune support tabs, but nothing else. I’m going to try an apple to see if the veggies he was just tired of.

What should I do about the poop though?? He played with me. I touched his butt and made a boop sound and he Binkied and hopped and shook his head. At first when I walked into the room he was hunched over in a corner and I tried getting him to take a treat, but he didn’t so I lifted him, put him on my lap, and then petted him a little. He hopped off of me into the cage again and layed down in the corner, not hunch. But then I got a raisin and he came out and started playing with me.

I’m still very scared. Sorry. He won’t drink the pineapple juice. So what do I do?

Vinyl is a type of plastic.

Judging from the way he’s acting, he’s not ill. Sick bunnies don’t binky. Sick bunnies don’t eat raisins. Don’t stuff him full of treats now =)

Clean out his litterbox, re-fill with clean litter. That way you’ll know if he poops at all or not. If he hasn’t produced a single poop in 6 hours, call your vet.

This will not be the last time he gives you a scare. That’s life with a bunny.

                          Hugs to you both.

                            Thank you.

Guess what!!!!! I just got done praying not too long ago, and I read this, looked in his litter box because of you, and I found a 1cm long 1/2 cm wide log of poop. I hope that is what caused it. But we will see. I am feeling a bit relieved. And he’s eating hay right now. Phew… for now I guess

It sounds really great. All things taken together, he sounds fine!

So I just went back to look, and there was no poop to be found

He took a carrot from me and stuff, could it be that that big poop emptied him? Or could he still have some sort of blockage??
                                How do I stimulate pooping??

Looking back at your previous post, it’s only been an hour and a half since he passed the poop log. Sometimes rabbits can lounge around for 2-3 hours before going to poop. The fact that he did the bigger poop is a really good sign, it’s quite possible that it had backed things up a little, but it means that things are working as they should and that his system is passing what’s in it. So to me it sounds like things are going pretty well, especially since he’s still taking food. Do what you can to encourage him to eat some hay as well. Hay is the best thing for digestive upset, if he’s not going to eat it, offering strands to him will often make him eat some.

Ok. So in attempts to get him to eat, I took lettuce, apple slices, and a carrot to try to get him to eat. I also found a crunchy piece of hay in the bin and waved it in front of him and he took it no problem. then I waved the lettuce and he took it too but not before the carrot!! So I think that’s finally to clear up. He was laying around a lot so that may be it. And I checked and he had a few poops in the litter box!! so now that he had the cup of lettuce I’m hoping that he’ll poop more. I’m just gonna keep praying and hope that next time I check there will be more poop. When I left the room he was in his litter box and eating hay, so maybe!!!!

That all sounds extremely promising to me and he sounds like a very happy bunny. If he’s sitting in his box munching hay, I bet there’s a bunch of poops on the way

                                        OMG!!!!!! I just checked,

                                        There’s a bunch of poop!!!!!

And he’s eating and being happier than ever. Thanks so much for everyone’s advice!!!!!!!!
Does this mean he’s going to stay fine?
And he passed a lot of the tile. A bunch of poop had it. It was in a chunk like this.
A poop pellet, long piece of something covered in fecal matter, another poop pellet.

                                        I am so thankful.

It sounds to me like most if not all of it has passed then. Wonderful news I would definitely say it means that he will continue to be fine.

Sounds like he’s doing better he just had to pass it. I think he’ll be okay. Trust me it happens owning a bunny. My rabbit Oreo God rest her soul had a nasty habit of eating rubber remote buttons.
