  So its starting to get warmer here in the US, and after a surprisingly hot and humid day this past Friday I discovered that my Jack cannot tolerate the higher temperatures at all. I broke out the frozen water bottles, fan, ice in the water bowl and wet his ears down because he was panting, poor guy. The temp outside reached about 80, and in the summer its going to get much higher than that.
  
  So I ordered a new AC for the living/bunny room. My question is about how often I should run it, and can the air be harmful to the bunny if the AC is directly above his cage? I’ve thought about setting up some kind of shelf so that the air doesn’t fall right on him, but I’m not sure if that’s necessary?
  
  His xpen is set up on the window side of the room, and the window for the AC is right above his cage. I can’t really change the location of the AC as the shelf is already set up outside that one window. I’d rather not move him as he gets the most light during the day there, but I suppose I could move him over if I really needed to.
  
  I made sure to buy a unit that had an economy setting since this is going to be on pretty much 24/7 once the summer hits and its going to be crazy expensive, but Jack really needs it to be cool, so its fine. Its a smallish room – maybe 125 sq ft and it has a door I can close. I was thinking of setting it to 75 degrees? Is that too high? Should I go as low as 70? I don’t want it to be too cool in here either.
  
  My boy is about 2 years old, dutch mix so he’s not too fluffy, but he’s a little guy. Only 3 lbs (1.4 kgs)

  75 sounds pretty good to me, if he’s still too warm, moving him away from the window could actually help, since a lot of heat comes in through there.
  
  The main concern with fans and air cons is the breeze, so if you can prevent it from blowing directly on him that would be good, he needs to be able to escape the cool breeze of the air con.
  
  In terms of how often to run it, you could just run it during the day and then providing the night is a bit cooler switch to a fan overnight to cut down on costs. Although obviously some nights will still be very warm and need AC.
