With six wets of claws to clip, I’d never keep track doing the odd one here or there, and go for the ‘right we’re getting them done today, no matter what’ approach.

I weigh them first, as monitoring weight is a good health check.

        Podge

‘Mum, I did not agree to you being allowed to pick me up to be weighed, or cut my claws. Not OK mum. Ohhh so you think you can chomp, bribe me, chomp, with carrot, chomp, huh, well, chomp, it aint, chomp going to chomp, work, hey I need another slice.’

        Choco

‘weeek, weeeeek, danger, danger, weeeeeek, weeeeek carrrroooots yay’

        Latte

‘weeek, weeeeek, danger, danger, weeeeeek, weeeeek carrrroooots yay’

        Pippi

Mum, I dont like being picked up, ohhh carrot. Mum, I don’t like you clipping my front paws, ohhh carrot. Mum, I don’t like you clipping my back paws, ohhh carrot. Mum, can’t you find something else needs doing, I want more carrot!

Girls really don’t like weigh day and claw clipping, and not even carrot helps

Were you clipping her claws? Its easy to cut into the quick, the blood supply to the nail, even for an experience claw clipper. There is stuff you can buy to stop the bleeding fast, but it does stop quite fast by itself anyway. I keep an old but clean towel to hand, and just wrap the paw in that till the bleeding stops, if I do clip the quick.

Haha! Typical boys. Can you successfully distract your sons with food also?
