Why does my female rabbit pull her pen into a different shape?  I have it set to the largest size so that she has alot of space. The boys don’t pull their pens. Any ideas?

Mine kept doing the same thing. I finally realized that because his cage is on the side of the couch, he pushes it out so he can see the rest of us better. Sometimes he does it just the throw a tantrum because he wants more fresh veggies!

She wants to get out, most likely

But here’s the thing: She pulls it IN like she’s trying to make it smaller. She doesn’t seem to like being near the boys but likes my two cats. She’s in the dining room where she can see me in the kitchen and living room. Could it be that she feels secure in a smaller space? Also, she does this mostly at night.

I mean, my mini rex will tug on his cage, making it look like hes pulling it in but he does this only when he wants to get out

Theo has an X-pen attached to his cage and when we put him in at night when he deems it too early he lifts and pulls at the cage with his teeth – meaning he wants to get out. Sometimes if he is in a huff he will pull and drag the pen into all sorts of shapes because he is unhappy with us. Every bunny is different though.

It could just be her way of telling you that you, a mere human, got it wrong, and only a bunny can set it up ‘right’. That’s what I think when my buns rearrange stuff, esp after I’ve cleaned the dining room up.

Thanks everyone. I think I’ll increase what I call “Run Around Time”. But I think too that she’s just re-arranging her house the way she likes it. They all do that but she’s the only one who pulls. I was interested in seeing if other rabs pull.
