So exciting! There’s a new baby at the stable where I keep my Winnie. He was just born Thursday night. I went to see him yesterday morning. Way too cute!!!!! His name is Windsor and he’s a Kentucky Mountain Horse. His Mom Adele is really pretty and sweet. Brought back memories of my own little Winnie being born (a long time ago…she’s going to be 15 next month!)

He’s less than an hour old in these pics. So amazing how quickly they learn to stand.

Nature is so fascinating to me, particularly in regards to baby animals. It’s so interesting how some large babies are born essentially ready to go, within an hour or so. Fully furred, eyes open, ready to walk etc. Then other large babies (such as humans) require a full year before they begin walking. Then comparing something like rabbits which only open their eyes at 10 days, to hares which are born furred and can also run within an hour or so of birth. It’s just fascinating to me.

Oh, wow, Azerane, I wasn’t aware of baby hares being born ready to go like that. My knowledge for today.

Nah, that’s not her baby – it was swapped in maternity ward !! Mum’s light coloured and baby’s really dark….. Bet the father’s not impressed !!! LOL
ADN testing aside, foals are really very cute with wibbly wobbly nobbly legs – a bit like baby giraffes !!
Azerane – I completely share your fascination with nature and suchlike… I spend time wondering about these amazing things…

In the UK there was a 3 part science TV program called ” COUNTDOWN TO LIFE : The Extraordinary Making of You ” – following the 9 months in the womb but with some gobsmacking 3D imagery, scans and collated info from around the world.

If you can find it and you like that sort of thing – please watch it – it was simply fascinating.

1hr programs mapping each 3 month period…. For instance what your Mother’s diet was BEFORE conception decides this and that in your character/physique…. and so on…. – how women in one african country (can’t remember which one) only conceive in the wet season (healthy greens), as babies conceived in the dry season (v bad nutrion) had physical problems or died as teenagers…. they did research to find out why which led to these findings.

                          Anyhoo, lovely foal, thanks LPT
