Hello, my 2 month old mini lop Aurora has regularly been shaking her head and twitching her neck. She also uses her back legs to fast scratch her ears; which makes me wonder if these are symptoms of something up with her ears? Ear infection? Mites? Fleas? Or just a little quirk?
Anybunny experienced anything similar with your bun?
        Thank you

It sounds like she could have ear mites or some other ear problem. She needs to go to the vet to be examined properly and treated for the problem. Don’t wait. The sooner you have this problem diagnosed and treated, the better.

I did some researching on ear mites in rabbits, and I’m pretty sure that’s what the problem is.
I read that chickens carry the mites and that one way rabbits can get mites is through contact with chickens. The place I recently got Aurora from had lots of chickens around the hutch she was kept in.
She doesn’t have any crusty gunks; her ears look normal inside so it’s at an early stage. I’m going to try some natural remedies I’ve found which involve honey, apple cider vinegar, olive oil and tea tree oil. I’ll also add some ACV to her drinking water.
If her head shaking doesn’t start becoming less regular or she gets worse; I will definitely be taking her to a vet.
            Thank you for your advice
