So I posted a few weeks ago how my holland lop Julep was sneezing like crazy but had no nasal discharge. She was on an anti inflammatory and antibiotics for 10 days and seemed to recover just fine. However in the past couple of days she has been sneezing even more than before! Nothing has changed in her environment other than being out of her cage longer during the day. I was really sick with the flu so since I was home in bed she was out and about. I don’t think I can afford to take her back to the vet for another checkup but am getting concerned about all this sneezing. She still has no discharge and no wet or matted paws suggesting that she’s cleaning herself up. What should I do? I will call the vet and see what she suggests. I don’t think it’s allergies but Julep doesn’t act sick other than big sneezes and sneezing fits. At least one every half hour or so. I’m frustrated cause I want her to be healthy but have no idea what more can be done.

How about ringing the vet clinic and seeing if they will give you another round of the meds without having to see her? That way you’re only paying for a refill, not the consult.

Another thing that might help is increasing the humidity in your home, or where she mostly hangs out. As you’re coming into the warm seasons in the US, it could be why your seeing this flare up.
Misting the hay with water can also minimize dust if you think that’s something that irritates her.

Thank you so much Jerseygirl. I do use a humidifier at night but I will start running it during the day as well and hope that makes a difference. And when I call the vet I will ask about getting meds without her having to go in again. It really has been maybe a month at most since she was there. Fingers crossed I can get this sneezing under control. Poor Julep’s ears stick straight out for a few seconds each time she sneezes! She looks so funny and annoyed!

I have had the same problem with my lion head. Some times they will just sneeze. Just like us. I have had people suggest to get an air purifier. Its pretty pricey. But in the end if it helps you’ll put out less money in the long run. Check amazon!

Thanks moo! I actually already have an air purifier that runs constantly because I have hay allergies. I have also been running my humidifier all the time. I thought she was doing better but today she has been having full blown sneezing fits. One of them lasted almost a full minute. I will be contacting my vet tomorrow to see what she suggests.
