So my new bunny Phoebe seems to be thumping a lot! Everytime I let her out of the cage she thumps at least 10-20 times while she runs around her floor area. Is this because she is happy? She also does a few binkies after she has gotten all of her thumps out, so I want to say that its because she is happy she has floor time. But I really dont know that for sure. Is this something anyone else has some insight on? Or is she just mad at me? I mean 10 thumps I feel like is a lot of thumps. Is she trying to tell me something? I usually let her out and clean her cage, then I sit on the floor after I am done cleaning. I dont think that this is anything to thump about but maybe someone else can explain to me why it is happening?

        Thanks!

Both Gina and Jenny thump when they run round and round, they finish off with a few binkies too. They have a specific spot on each loop where they thump, then another lap and another thump. I put it down to play being a practise survival thing, like it is for kittens (cats), where they play fight. In the wild, if a bunny can thump as they run, they warn others and get away from a predator, so more bunnies survive.

My rabbit rarely thumps, but when he does, it means one of two things – either he’s scared, or he wants attention NOW.

Yeah, my Sebastian thumps just to express his displeasure that I’m taking too long to feed him. So maybe not “good” from his perspective (because, obviously, I’m being a very very bad human and not moving quickly enough for His Highness) but not bad either. He’s just irritated.
