        Hi,,

My bun Jack has a bump on his lower lip. I first noticed this bump at least a month ago, but I thought it might just be the way his mouth was, but now I think its gotten bigger. I’ve seen the vet since I saw it, but didn’t think to bring it up and they didn’t even notice it.

Its pink, soft and pillowy – about a quarter inch across. Maybe a little less. It doesn’t seem to be bothering him, but who knows.

Is this something that is likely to go away on its own or do I need to bring him to the vet again? Its tax season and these vet bills are killing me!

The photo is blurry because of course he wouldn’t sit still! Its the white spot.

        Thank you for your time.

I think its best you get him checked, it could be an abscess and we don’t want it popping on bunny and he swallows the fluid, not only does it taste awful it can cause other problems like in the tummy.

It is something that probably needs to be looked at, given that it has grown. Since you’ve been in with him recently(?) could you ask if you can do a deferred payment? Or that they only charge a recheck fee?
If they can identify what it is at least, you’ll have a better idea of if it’s urgent to be treated or something that will self resolve.

If you find out can you let us know please? I’d like to know, obviously if it is something it might not be the same thing on another bunny, I’m just curious, thank you

Hi guys. That’s so much for responding.

So I called my vet yesterday because I was waiting on fecal results (negative!) and asked the nurse about it. She felt like the best thing for me to do since I was just in and no one saw anything was to watch it over the next week. And if it gets worse, definitely bring him in, and if it stays the same or gets smaller then to just point it out next time I’m there.

Today it seems smaller and less inflamed, but still that same little bump he’s had for so long. I wonder if it got irritated because of his panic attack and running into the cage bars the other day. I posted about this too (I’m a new bunny mom…lots of questions!!)

I’m going to continue to monitor him. It hasn’t affected his eating, playing, or pooing so far. And the vet is just so traumatic for him. It takes us an hour in traffic to get there usually (ugh) and the birds there scare him, poor little guy.

When I first saw this bump I thought it was just his mouth shape. Just like humans that have moles or whatever, maybe buns do too?

I promise to follow up, Pinky, once I have some answers. Ok a separate note, I love reading about Olly’s adventures! 😀
