I’m really sorry to hear Poof passed away so suddenly. I have no experience with this, but I wanted to send my condolences, all the same.

I’m very sorry about the loss of Poof.

If you are thinking of getting another rabbit some time in the future, you could see if there are any rescues near you. Rabbits are almost always already spayed and neutered when you get them from a rescue.

Was he eating normal before and after the surgery? If he had even a little too much anesthesia it could have made his GI track come to a slowing stop or a halt all together. If rabbits are under for too long it can also cause problems with their GI track. It also depends on a lot on his age. Surgery of any kind is harder on an older rabbit

I’m so sorry that you lost Poof. It’s really difficult to say what happened. What comes to mind is some sort of pre-existing condition, f ex with his heart, that made the ordeal of anaesthetics and surgery too much for his system to cope with. It’s not common. It really isnt. I’m glad he got to be your family-member since October, so he got to know what it means to be loved and have a real home.

I hope you’ll dare get another rabbit one day. As Tobyluv said, many if not most shelters neuter their buns before they’re adopted out, so that’d mean you’d never have to worry about this happening again.

                    Binky free, Poof
