Came home from work today to find Olive has not eaten all day. There are poops in his cage, but no food is gone. He’s being quite inactive. He has not pooped since I got home but has eaten quite a few greens.
The last three days his poops have been smaller so I was giving him reglan. No other indication of why this might be.
He currently has an ear infection but is not taking antibiotics for it as he goes in to stasis.

Please help with suggestions of what could be causing this!!
Could his ear infection cause this?

If he is in pain it could be that. Do you have any metacam? I would get him to a vet asap. They would be able to tell you better and help him.

You could try simethicone (in case of gas), force feed mushed up pellets, etc. Standard stasis protocol. I think it’s in the bunny info section. I hope he feels better soon!

Benebac (a probiotic) was recommended to me to help my bun through his antibiotics. Ear infections don’t usually go away on their own.

He’s on a pain killer already. He’s also taking a simethecone. Calling the vet in the morning.

Sometimes it’s not possible to figure out what caused stasis, it can be multiple, more or less harmless things happening at the same time causing the system to react. You have reglan and simethicone, you know how to do a very light massage (here’s the link to the instruction video: bunny massage). Try to get him to move around some, exercise is very good for the digestive system. I know you have a good bunny vet.

Thanks bam! I really appreciate all your responses.
Olive got the all clear from his vet. His ears look good. We’re continuing with my treatment plan for the ear infection.
The vet doesn’t know what caused the stasis but he’s eating so she seems pretty confident he’s out of immediate danger.
Still no poops but hopefully that will start soon
