The day I lost my baby bunny, Fabio, is the same day I cried on my older rabbit, Toffee, for a good twenty minutes. He didn’t behave any differently after I let him go; kicked when we got near the ground, wouldn’t take treats from my hand.

The next day, however, I went up to his cage and he bounded forward to see me. Confused, I picked him up – he was hesitant, but let me. He jerked once when we got to the ground. He took apples and carrots from my hand.

        He then humped my legs.

He’s been doing this since I lost my baby rabbit – humping my legs, taking treats, and now he doesn’t kick at all. When someone or a dog comes up to his pen and I’m in there with him, he bounds forward towards their direction, does a thump, and races back to me. I’m realllly confused. He’s 9, so it’s not a random burst of hormones.

Since the bunny hierarchy has changed, he could be confused. Was he the alpha bun of your pair?

            They weren’t bonded.

It could be random burst of hormones then. A lot of rabbits start to act up around spring due to instincts. Other than that, im not really sure what could be urging him to do this
