He got out while I wasn’t home and ate a part of a bag. Do i take him to the vet I’m extremely worried he accepted a treat just fine. I don’t want to lose him

I would call the vet for an opinion, and maybe wait a bit to see if his eating, pooping, playing are normal and f they change, take him in.
Sometimes buns like to chew up bad stuff but won’t swallow much or any. Other times if they swallow some it’s in tiny pieces they can later poop out.

Do you think some gas drops might help his digestive track keeps moving if there is blockage I’ve heard people giving them vegetable oil to help it pass smoother

Just watch for poop pellets.  This will be a sign that their gastro-intestinial system is working.  The big problem is that if they eat too much non-digestible stuff to fast, their stomach at the juncture of their esophagus and small intestine will become clogged…this is known as GI Statis.  If this stomach becomes clogged, you’ll need vet help.  Our bunnies have chewed some plastics also.  We try to make sure they can’t get at this stuff again.  So far no problem.Keep in mind that bunnies have two stomachs. Their second stomach is located at the juncture of the small intestine and large intestine.  It’s in this stomach that specialized bacteria convert cellulose (vegetable matter) to glucose.  If GI Statis sets in, this stomach will be devoid of contents because the upstream stomach is blocking off food flow.  An X-ray of a bunny suffering from GI Statis will show their first stomach being clogged, and their second stomach being gas filled.  A symptom of GI Statis is also they will be passing foul smelling gas out of their rectum.  100% healthy bunnies won’t be passing gas.

Cliff’s Notes:  Watch for bunny’s poop production.  If appetite and poop production are OK, bunny is OK.

I agree with the others. Bunnies sometimes eat non-digestible things. The only thing you can do is monitor for food intake and poop. Up the hay and the water to keep the gut moving. If there is any sign that poop production is slowing, then get bunny to a vet.

Simethicone could act as a lubricant, Medirabbit says it’s harmless so you can try it. I would, but I’m not a vet. Or dear buns do have a tendency to eat stuff they shouldn’t. My Yohio has eaten plastic, leather, shoe laces etc.

update: poop production is good. he emptied his hay rack by the morning which he never does, so i feel he could tell i was nervous, i gave him the simethicone. and gave him a belly massage which he seemed to appreciate

Where do you get simethicone?  I guess the vet is an obvious answer, but can you buy it yourself off the counter? Thanks

You can buy it over-the-counter at a pharmacy or stores like Target or Walmart. Sometimes it’s with the other gas meds. Sometimes it’s with the baby meds. It depends on how the store organizes its stuff.

Bindi did this once too. He ate part of a garbage bag to get to an apple core. He was fine.
