I came downstairs this morning to find Chomondeley, sitting in his X-pen, with the blanket I use as flooring all tugged up from where it’s pulled taut with bricks.  The worst part is… there was white fluff all around the X-pen, which I freaked out over initially, before coming to the conclusion that it was merely the blanket, not fur. I don’t think Chomondeley ingested much of it, but it scares me! I think he’s bored at night (that’s the only time the digging/chewing happens, as far as I’m aware.) Are there any tips on getting him to stop, or some boredom busters? Please help!!

I have a hard time with fabric chewing also. (Not me, Spike, that is.) I found that I had to switch to a less “tasty” flooring or a healthier one. I can’t really give him any blankets or towels because he likes to pull and chew them.

I got a very low pile carpet cutting that’s 4’x5′ and put it flat under his habitat. He still licks it, but can’t really pull it up. But a safe addition over that has been sheets of seagrass mattes. BB has them in different sizes in the store. I put one under his litter pan, under his food dishes, and on an area of rug where he sits a lot. Sometimes he likes to lie on it, sometimes he likes the rug.

Seagrass matte is just woven edible haylike strands, so is very healthy and easy to digest. You are safe with those.

After that, try some willow balls which are great toys and edible as well as boredom busters.
