Today I went down to pet luna and Venus. When I was touching Venus, I realized her ears feel super hot. I know bunnies have higher body temperatures than us humans, but this is the first time I’ve felt her ears feel so hot. Now I’m really reallly worried. Does she have a fever???……. My room isn’t that hot or cold. Its like in the low 70F.

Seems as though the heat sort of went away now, but I’m still curious of why it felt so hot earlier

Sometime’s Theo’s ears become hot if he’s been running around for a while, even if he is in a cooler room. Or if I have to handle him for any reason his ears will become hot.

Their ears a major heat exchangers for rabbits. Their ears are important for radiating excess heat. Monitoring your bunnies health, it’s important to grasp their ears gently and feel what’s going on.  Sometimes they’ll feel cold and sometimes hot. After they’ve eaten, their ears will generally feel warm.  If they haven’t eaten for a while, their ears will be cool.  Make it a habit to feel your rabbits ears throughout the day.  You’ll pick up when they are warm and when cool, etc.  The important thing is for you to learn when their ear temperature is out of the ordinary.  Judge their ear temps with their poop output and appetite, and once again be sensitive when their ear temperature is out of the ordinary. .
