I have two female rabbits, Missy and Luna. They were like sisters until I brought home another bunny. Unfortunately this new bunny that was suppose to be a female turned out to be male and accidentally got my Missy pregnant before I knew. Everything seemed ok with Missy and Luna until about a week before Missy was due. Missy starting attacking Luna and pulling her hair out. I had to separate them and it’s been a month now since Missy had her babies. She still attacks Luna (even trying to though the cage) whenever she sees her. She doesnt act this way with Dozer (the male). I was hoping she would calm down after the babies were born buy no luck…
Any advice? I want them to be friends again.

Missy and Luna will need spaying, Luna as soon as possible, and Missy once she has stopped nursing, while Dozer will need neutering, again, as soon as possible. All three need to be kept apart until they are well healed, and Dozer shouldn’t go near any other bun for several weeks after.

Missy will probably stay highly territorial as long as she is nursing the kits. You will also need to segregate any boy kits from any girl kits soon.

I am getting Dozer neutered tomorrow and I’m not sure when I will be able to do the other 2. Missy and Luna are almost 2 years old so other than the babies I don’t know why Missy would suddenly turn on her. She’s finished nursing as far as I can tell so maybe she will calm down a little soon. If not I’ll definitely will have to get them spayed.

Hormones are why she turned on her. Hormones in rabbits can make them very aggressive for seemingly no reason. They wont calm down after nursing, they will continue to duke it out until they are all spayed/neutered. Until then, keep them separated. Very bad fights can cause strongly bonded pairs to split forever due to associating the other as a threat
