How often do you take your rabbit to the vet for a check up?

For a regular check up, i would make sure to go once a year. How often do i take the buns to the vet in general: about once a month we take one bun (we have three). So every bun seems to go to the vet once every three months for various reasons (one had allergies, one has blood issues, and the other tries to eat stuff he shouldnt so its always good to have him checked out just in case)

With our healthy rabbit, Tossu, we go to the vet if something’s wrong (that I can’t fix myself) or something needs to be done (like neutering). I also took him in when I’d only just gotten him to make sure everything was okay, though that wasn’t really needful.

Our megacolon (chronically ill) bunny Sukka goes in to the vet when something’s wrong (and I am not able to settle it with home care, which is extensive for us these days) or when her condition develops noticeably somehow. We also go “every once in a while” because our vet wants to try new meds for her, and wants to do a quick check-up before starting any new medication.

I try to keep vet visits to a minimum, since bunnies don’t usually appreciate the stress of travel. Thankfully, Sukka doesn’t mind moving around at all, she actually quite enjoys it.

I’ve only had my little girl for a few months, but we’ve been to the vet three times. Once for a checkup since we found her and wanted to make sure she was healthy. Second time to stay for a week when we went on a vacation with my husbands job. And just this week to get her spayed. I hope we won’t have to go again for a while cause she hates car rides. But we might have to leave her there again for 3 days to go visit my Husbands family out of state. I imagine as long as your buns are healthy, you won’t have to go very often at all. =]

Always for any new rabbit brought into the home just to get them on record at the vet and to make sure there’s not any problems you’re missing. After that, yearly for vaccinations and a wellness check up. Though of course if my rabbit were to get sick in between we’d visit the vet. But in my opinion a yearly check up is a must, at the very least to check on teeth.
