         Hi All!

I just adopted a bunny from the shelter – he is the sweetest thing ever! Took me no time to bond him with my current bunny, they are best buddies now That said, I need some help from you to ID his breed, Cooper has quite interesting markings on his body and his eyes are blue. I have attached some pictures with this post; if you have an idea of what kind of breed he is, please do not hesitate to post below.

        Thanks in advance!!

Blue eyes generally mean the bunny has one copy of the Vienna gene (e.g. Vienna Marked). They have white patches that can be as simple as a white tip on the nose to a fully white head and Dutch-like markings on the body. This isn’t the same gene that causes the Dutch pattern, however. As far as breed goes, it’s difficult to say. BEW (two copies of the Vienna Gene) is a “color” that is accepted in several breeds and breeders are working on introducing the color into other breeds. So markings alone isn’t going to tell us much. How big is he?

            Welcome CoopsNRups : )
**I edited your post to add the other images from Attachments bar. I couldn’t turn them around for you, sorry!

He’s a great looking bunny!! Personality to match, by the sounds of it. That’s great news he bonded so easily with your other bunny.
There is something really familiar to me with his head shape, but I just can’t put my finger on it.

What is his age and weight?
He’s very likely a mix of breeds but we can certainly try have a guess at what they may be.

Jersey, the head ridges remind me of rexes.

Good to know!  I was seeing a bit of Rex in the jaw line and cheeks also. And possible the nose. Off to google…

Some mini rexes have really fine looking features and others a bit “blockier”.

I’m seeing a similarity here with this BEW mini rex – not just the eyes.  Cooper doesn’t have the rexed fur obviously, but he could well be a rex cross.

Thanks everyone!!! Yes I can definitely see the resemblance to a mini Rex! He is quite small, adult size at around 3.5lbs. Any idea what breed crosses could have caused the markings on his body? His back has brown bits and his underneath has dark grey fur – my boyfriend calls him the calico bunny haha

I’m not certain you can peg a breed from that really. The genes responsible for colour and pattern are common to many breeds.

The dark grey is under the brown/orange do you mean?

His face looks super similar to my small dutch and his fur texture looks similar too. I agree he looks like he might have some mini rex as well. Im going to go with a guess that hes mix of dutch and mini rex The gray fur under the brown fur i do believe is called “tort” coloring

It’s more like he has a patch of dark grey fur near his genitals. The rest of his fur is a white/brown mix. In terms of quality, I think is mixed – the fur on his belly and underneath his chin is more like a mini rex (short and it stands up) and the fur on his back is longer and more flat. Definitely an interesting combination!

Mikey – I thought about dutch as a possible breed mix, however, he doesn’t have the distinct dutch markings on his face and body – maybe his mini rex side took away some of the color?

The grey patches could be dilute harlequin coloring. I don’t think he’s Dutch. Although they can create somewhat similar markings Dutch and Vienna are completely different genes.

My dutch has tort fur coloring. Its brown/tan with shorter gray fur mixed in. At first glance, his fur is white and tan, but if you pet him or get close, you can see the grays. I thought this was normal for torts? Maybe im getting coloring names mixed up. His face and body look super close to my dutch so im sticking with that guess plus being mixed with something else
