        Hello,
I’m new here, so I apologise if this has been asked recently (did I a quick search and couldn’t see what I needed).

We rescued a bunny at the weekend, and tomorrow I go to collect a second hand hutch for him.
I just wondered what substances would be okay to use to properly clean and disinfect it? I saw from lots of posts that in regular cleaning white vinegar and hot water is ok, but for the first clean and to ensure there were no illnesses or disease from any previous bunnies I wanted to use see thing a little more thorough??

        Thank you!!

There is a bunny safe disinfectant called Virkon-S, that you can buy online or in feed-stores/places that sell stuff for horses. Its main use is in horse- stables but it’s also available in small sachets more suitable for your needs. It’s a powder that you disolve in water. You first clean the hutch normally, then spray or sponge the Virkon-S solution on all surfaces and let it dry on its own. It has no smell and the pink color goes away as it dries.

That said, vinegar and water kills most pathogens. I used Virkon S on my second hand hutch just to be safe.
