I recently lost my little girl and am wanting to adopt a new mate for her bunny boy. There are 2 girl buns that I am interested in adopting. My question is if anyone has brought 2 new females into the house to try to bond with their boy bun? I see a lot of posts and articles about a new bun being introduced to a bonded couple but was wondering what experiences/advice people had about bringing in 2 new females to bond with a newly single boy bun. Thank you.

          Hi
Im sorry about the loss of your bunny. ***Binky Free Little One***

Are the 2 rabbits you’re interested in already a bonded pair?

Ah okay. I have experience with a bonded pair of girls then bonding with a boy to form a trio. But not a 3 from scratch. I think I would approach this the same way I would a 1 to 1 bond. Pop them all in neutral space and supervise. You may come across views that girls are hard to bond together, or boys hard to bond together, but honestly, it comes down to the individual rabbits.

Everything will be new to the girls coming in and it should work in your favour. Your boy also having previously lived with another rabbit should also be an advantage.

My approach to bonding is a lot more relaxed then the first bonding experience I had. That was slow going, but nothing too upsetting occurred. Now, I more relaxed and step back a bit. All the recent bondings I’ve done have been for other people. Neutral space and “neutral” person worked wonders. Its harder to be like that when one of your own rabbits is involved. But while they are learning to trust one another, we have to learn to trust them also. We have to be present to break up fighting, but not hover either.

Thank you for the insight! I’m hoping that I will be more relaxed this time around on the bonding too!! Definitely not fun for anyone but so worth it in the end!! ?

                  Definitely.

I’ve been really lucky with other peoples rabbits. I’d put them in the bath tub first for a few hours. If that went well, I’d go straight to pen and not separate them at all. Using cardboard on the pen floor is really useful as you can hear when some chasing or scuffling is going on. Particularly good when they are together all night for the first time. Even using a big cardboard box instead of bath tub had been good initially.
