Hi, I’m just starting my life with my bunny Millie, who is a rescue from a local shelter. She seems to have a problem with biting or at least “nipping” (she is not drawing blood, but it’s no love bite.) at me whenever she is in a very hyper or happy mood. She runs around my bedroom supervised, and when I’m on my bed, she will do a cute little binky then jump up and immediately dart at my arm. Even if move it, she chases it just to bite it. I don’t think she has negative intentions or it has anything to do with fear or aggressiveness, she really seems very happy and comfortable just before she strikes. I’ve had her for just over a week, so it is very early on still. But, I have had bunnies in the past, and I can definitely say that I haven’t seen this behavior before… Any ideas on what could be causing her to do this? Could it just be that she is so excited that she just sort of does it without thinking? I read on another forum that nuzzling and light biting can indicate love, but could she really have bonded to me that quickly? Regardless, any resolution to this problem or ideas on what is causing it as well as advice to eliminate the problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much!

As I’ve learned from the others. Whenever my bunny bites, I will turn my back facing her or giving a cry in pain and it deter my bunny from biting me.. After sometime the nipping stopped.

It sounds like shes trying to get you to play with her while shes binkying around your room. Seconding what Excript said: make a little “yip” sound and turn your back to her. The biting will stop with time
