I recently invested in some Dr. Bronner’s 18 in 1, all natural, pure castille soap. I absolutely love it! You can quite literally use this stuff for everything depending on how you dilute it. It is very natural, but I wanted to see if anyone else has used this for their rabbit? Or if any of the ingredients were toxic?

I got the unscented kind, so it should have no essential oils or heavy scents to it.

        Ingredients:

Water, Organic Coconut Oil*, Potassium Hydroxide**, Organic Palm Kernel Oil*, Organic Olive Oil*, Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Citric Acid, Tocopherol

        *CERTIFIED FAIR TRADE INGREDIENTS

** None remains after saponifying oils into soap & glycerin.

        Dilutions:

        Body Uses:

Face: 2-3 drops on wet hands, applied to wet face

Body: one small squirt on a wet washcloth, applied to a wet body

Hair: ½ Tbsp. in your hand, worked into wet hair, or dilute ½ Tbsp. in ½ a cup of water and work that into wet hair

Bath: Completely depends upon water amount, but roughly 2 Tbsp. soap in an average sized tub. (Doesn’t bubble, but still cleans)

Shaving: Face – 10 drops; Underarms – 3 drops; Legs – ½ tsp; Work to a lather in wet hands and then apply to area.

Teeth: 1 drop on a toothbrush. (Yes, it tastes like soap.)

Foot Bath: 1 ½ tsp. in a small tub of hot water.

Clearing Congestion: 1 Tbsp. in a bowl of steamy hot water. Breathe in mist with a towel draped over the head.

        Household uses:

Dishes (handwashing): Pre-dilute 1:10 with water. Squirt on a scrub brush and scrub dishes.

Laundry: 1/3-1/2 c. of soap for a large load in a normal washer. Add ½ c. vinegar to the rinse cycle. Use half of these amounts for HE

Mopping: ½ c. of soap in 3 gallons of hot water

All-purpose cleaning: ¼ c. soap in a quart of water in a spray bottle. Add ¼ tsp. tea tree essential oil if desired.

Windows: 1 Tbsp. soap in a quart of water in a spray bottle. Follow up with pure club soda, or half vinegar/ half water.

Toilet: Predilute 1:4 with water in a squirt bottle. Add ¼ tsp. tea tree oil. Empty toilet, squirt bowl thoroughly, sprinkle baking soda on the brush, scrub bowl, let sit 10 minutes, turn water on, flush.

        Other Uses:

Fruit and Veggie Rinse: 1 dash (approx.. ¼ tsp.) in a bowl of water. Dunk produce and swish. Then rinse in clear water.

Dog washing: Amount varies widely depending on size, hair type and length, and overall dirtiness. I wet my dog thoroughly, then start to work in castile soap up and down their body until I have a good lather. Really massage it in down to the skin. Your dog will thank you for it.

Plant spray for bugs: 1 Tbsp. in a quart of water. Add ½ tsp. cayenne pepper or cinnamon, if desired.

Ant spray (not on plants): ¼ c. tea tree soap in a quart of water. (This concentration will burn plants.)

        Thank you!

Im not sure, but ive always been told to never use any sort of soap or shampoo while bathing a rabbit. I was told to only use water, or in very dirty cases, kitten or puppy safe shampoos

I wouldn’t be using it to clean him, just his dishes and litter pan. I agree with that completely though! Thank you for your quick reply!

I’m interested in using this soap as a natural alternative to cleaning products. I only use more natural, cruelty free products. Sorry, I can’t answer your questions.

For my buns dishes, I just use a natural type of dishwashing liquid (whatever is cheapest in the natural product section at the grocery store and cruelty free). I just throw their dishes in with my regular dishwashing. I’m one of those archaic people that don’t have a dishwasher…(I know..the horror….)

For the litter pans I use a plastic knife to scrap out all the goo and then soak in vinegar and hot water.

My initial cleaning mix had a little bit of dish soap and then water and vinegar. The reason I was son interested in using this product is because it is all natural, cruelty free, free trade organic ingredients, and the company treats it’s people right. It also cleans everything else so well, I thought it would be a great substitute for that little bit of dish soap.

Are you asking because you want to bathe your rabbit? You’re never supposed to do that and they shouldn’t need it if they are healthy unless they got into something they shouldn’t. They take care of it themselves.

Making a rabbit wet to their core puts them at risk of hypothermia. The rescue I adopted my bun from was very specific about this.

Did you mean to wash your rabbits things?

No, I never wash my rabbit for those exact reasons and have never had a need to. As stated previously it would be diluted and used to clean enclosure items such as bowls, litter pan, etc.

Oh ok! I saw that it had a dog wash on there, so i thought you were talking about using it on your rabbits, not their items. I think for their litter it would be fine, but personally i dont trust many products to be bunny safe unless stated on the cleaner itself, so i wouldnt use it for food or water bowls

I use castile soap. As far as I know, it’s safe to use as a dish soap. I would use a plain, unscented kind like Kirk’s. Of course, you will want to rinse stuff off completely but you would do that with any soap.

That’s all this is, a brand of organic Castile soap.

I know. That’s why I said I use it so you would know it’s okay to use. If this brand is fragrance-free, then it should be fine.
