So my boy was very good,I decided to give him a treat, I gave him a strawberry, he looked at it, backed up, then went to sniff it, touched it with his paw, it rolled a bit, he shot off and hid in his box shaking, what do I do?

I don’t know. Maybe talk to the strawberry. Tell it to stop scaring your bunny. Bad strawberry!

My Yohio did much the same thing with a piece of banana. Looked, backed up, sniffed, then backed seriously up against the wall and sat staring in dismay at the offensive banana-slice from a safe distance.

I haven’t tried giving him banana after that. It’s not like banana is essential for a bunny’s health =)

My bunnies all like strawberry leaves, maybe try him with the leaves, leaving you to eat the unwanted fruit part

Can you guys imagine what would happen if a banana strawberry combo decided to gang up on the poor buns?

Haha, that does make me laugh. Bandit wasn’t scared, but he literally refused to eat apple… I tried it, my bunny sitter tried it. We’d leave a small piece of fresh apple for a whole day and he would not touch it. That was until one time I bought a bag of dried apple slices, and I took a tiny piece and forced it (gently) into his mouth so that he would at least taste it, lol. I kind of wiggled it around his lips till I got it in past them, haha. He had one tiny nibble and then refused the rest. He was laying down, so I left the rest of the piece sitting on the floor in front of his face. When I checked a half hour later he’d eaten it all. The next time I got the bag out he came racing over for some, lol. He was like a child, refused to try anything new, but whenever he did he found out it was delicious and couldn’t get enough. I never did manage to get him to try banana though.

Strangely enough. my bunny is the exact opposite. He will anything and everything. One time, I gave him a piece of orange that was sour. He flicked his tongue in and out, trying to wipe it off with his tiny paws. I tried to give him water but he didn’t understand and didn’t drink any, so eventually I had to give him fresh vegetables. Funnily enough, once the sourness disappeared, he came back for more. I didn’t give it to him.

However, he was very confused by an ice cube. I showed it to him, and he licked it, bit it, and dug at it. He was so very confused!

I think you’re bunny was just surprised by the strawberry, especially when it rolled. My bunny is deathly afraid of plastic bags just because it scared him one time. (I showed it to him, it got stuck on him, he took of running as fast as a bunny can which is pretty fast, and eventually it came off. Thank God, he would have died of fright if it didn’t. But the plastic bag was shredded to pieces by his claws)

Problem sorted, he was scared of the leaves for some reason, now if I give him a strawberry with leaves on, he backs up and pounces on it, throws it and then eats it.
