My two bunnies keep peeing on soft things. I get worried that they’ll get cold so I like to leave 2-3 small fleece blankets out for them to cuddle on both when I’m traveling and when we are home but THEY KEEP PEEING ON IT. I left out some nice soft dog bed for them to cuddle on too but they peed on that too!! They aren’t spayed because of age, but will this behavior stop when I spay them?? They are litter trained, but if I don’t change their litter everyday they pee outside of the box….. I’m planning to get them a bigger litter boxes tomorrow because they seem to have outgrown the two I have for them right now. I didn’t expect them to outgrow them so quickly…
They eat like 3000x more than they used to too because they are growing lil baby buns but I’m getting frustrated with the peeing. I’m now too afraid to try and let them free range (supervised of course) in my carpeted college room since they keep peeing on soft things and carpet equals soft things…. I have bought 2 different types of urine cleaner for carpets just in case accidents happen, but I’m too scared to risk them peeing somewhere and me not knowing about it (which can stink of my small room pretty quickly). How can I stop this peeing behavior on soft things?……. It’s soooo annoying and sort of disgusting too… I tried to dust out the hay littered across the fleece blanket by shaking it in the air and I had a big surprise of pee splattered onto my face via the blanket (GROSS! had to shower right afterwards)……. I don’t mind their poops (since they are lil hard pellets that are easy to clean up). I know they like to mark territory with poops (and sometimes pee) but their pees are getting a bit difficult to deal with….. I know this isnt territorial marking though. They just like to pee on all the soft thingies I give them.

Well, I’m afraid you’ve mentioned both culprits (no, not your buns ).

They’re young and unspayed, and bunnies like to pee on soft things. lol Even an altered adult bun with impeccable toilet habits, if presented with a soft squishy surface, will often “savour” it by having a wee.

It will get better (lots better) once the tiny twosome are spayed.

Soft things are like a beacon that says “PEE ON ME”. I agree with Q8, age and spaying/neutering helps.

aww man… I guess I got to wait another 2 months before I can fully let them free range whenever I’m home…. I’m planning to get them fixed by Mid May or early June! I REALLY don’t want them to start fighting from hormones and I need to travel out of the US in June, so need to get them spayed ASAP. For now I’ll just deal with the peeing on blankets and soft things since I can’t really do anything about it haha…. The washing machine will be my best friend. They are starting to warm up to me a lot more and they both let me carry them without much fuss anymore which is great!! Oh and is it normal for them to poop everywhere too? They poop a lot outside and inside the litter box, but pee in the litter box almost 99% of the time. Does the pooping everywhere reduce with spaying too??
