hello everyone, im new to binky bunny and i was wondering if anyone might know about rabbit fur coloration. my mini lop flopsy has quite a weird fur color patteren, and i cant quite put my finger on what color she actually is and my vet needs it for identification purposes. if anyone can help figure out her fur color that would be awesome and thank you.

(flopsy at 8 months vs flopsy at 8 weeks)

Welcome to the BB forums! Your bunny’s color look like tort to me (tortoise). Blue tort perhaps? But I’m not an expert on bunny colors, so I expect you will get more and better answers soon!

Np, and I thank you very much for answering my question. It’s just weird trying to describe to a vet her color pattern when they need it to id her for records and when she goes for checkups. I’m like umm some fawn/grayish mixed look lol.

Tyvm, she just turned 10 months today and I fell in love with her the second I saw her and held her. She’s my world.

Kinda weird day today, I was getting flopsy a new toy for her birthday and extra pellets at tractor supply and some saw my purchases and asked if I have a rabbit. I said yes I do she’s literally like my child I love her to death and the lady asked if I can show her picture, I said sure and showed her and the lady was telling me how she was a lop breeder. She said she looked rather sweet and said she had a nice build but her color isn’t show quality as a blue tort otter. I said thank you, but I never planned on showing my baby as she is a happy house rabbit.

Otter is a pattern. Is she referring to the white around the eyes and mouth? Does your bunny have a tan colored triangle on her neck?

I don’t understand the “blue tort” color statements.  To my old feeble eyes, in one photo the rabbit appears to be a grey color, and in another photo I’d say a light brown with a slightly reddish caste.  I don’t see any blue!!!!

My ‘Vienna Blue’ never looks the same colour in any two photos and then they are never like the reality…. if the vet has any doubts, your rabbit would come running to you in a line up….

Flemish, it’s the same rabbit my baby flopsy just at two different life stages, she started out as a cream and as she got older the blue started coming in as spots and lines until her head and face became almost all a bluish gray and a little blue shading on her back. I was in shock to as she aged from 8 weeks old to 8 months.

Vienna, I know what you mean lol. Sometimes her blue is almost a seal and in one it’s almost a lilacs.. I’m like how are you doing that flop and I kissed on my nose after the picture.
