I believe “fitting” means like a seizure. Fly strike is when fly larva burrow into the bunny’s skin.

You have to be careful with #9 as many healthy bunnies may natural have red pee depending on what they are fed. However, when blood is present, it comes in streaks and is generally inconsistent. If you aren’t sure, the vet can’t hurt.

                  Saved it!
For new bunny owners: Nr 5 collapse could be a bunny in a full flop. If your bun immediately startles when you poke him (lightly), it’s a flop and means your bunny is happy and relaxed.

Oh jeeze, fly strike sounds scary D: That happened to one of our neighbors guinea pigs before. It was very sad, they didnt know what to do and wouldnt take it to a vet; so i had to baby the piggy until it got better. It still has a small hole from it, but there wasnt much i could do not being trained for anything like that and not having seen anything like that before

Mikey, the piggy survived? That’s so great! Botflies burrow into the skin, but normal house-flies can cause fly-strike too by laying eggs near the bunny’s anus, esp if the bunny has poopy-butt. The eggs hatch and the larvae …yes, well, so gross, I won’t go into detail. But everybody who lets their buns outside should check the buns’ rears every day.

Fortunately fly strike usually only occurs if there is another issue like poopy butt or urine scalding. A healthy rabbit in a clean environment should rarely if ever get fly strike, otherwise how do rabbits in the wild survive! While I was certainly aware of the issue and it was a concern of mine, I kept outdoor rabbits for about 5 years and never had an incidence of fly strike (thankfully).

That being said, I agree that it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check your bunny every day, because that can literally save their life.

Great Flyer!   LPT — not sure if the original flyer is a bit blurry or if it was expanded.  If you want, there is a way to make that flyer bigger (only when the person clicks on it). If you have a larger flyer that is clearer, then you can upload it, but then choose to “Create a Thumbnail” and you can choose the size of the thumbnail, then what’s posted in the thread will be the thumbnail size, but then when someone clicks on it, it download the original.

Example — I created a thumbnail for this pic — i you click on it, it will download a larger picture.  Which would be perfect for the flyer!

To add to what LEL mentioned about blood in urine– you can also put Hydrogen peroxide on the red urine.  Blood will bubble up like crazy — not just a bubble or two,  it really fizzes up.  So that is a good tool to help identify if blood is in the urine.

Awesome, BB. I didn’t know about that option. I don’t have another pic. It was just one I saw posted on FB.
