Hi guys, I’ve had my rescue Monte for a little over a week now. She’s warming up nicely to her new home, but I’ve noticed her shaking her head a lot. I think they might be like half a binky, but I’m a little concerned. I checked her ears and they look great. Am I just being paranoid or could there be a problem?

Is it after grooming? One of my buns will shake his head/ears a lot after grooming himself. I read that it usually means they got some stray strands of fur in their ears that tickles so they they are just shaking out when they do that

It is after grooming a lot. And after she’s gotten up from a flop down nap. She does have unusually big ears too. That could be it.

I would say its possible then! My boy who does that have big ol ears too (i love them!), which i think is why he gets little hairs tickling after grooming. My two smaller buns dont seem to have an issue with it

Rabbits do shake their heads after grooming, and also in little half binkies as you said. However if it is all the time, it can be a sign of mites or an ear infection. Given that it’s usually only after grooming or when she gets up from lying down, I think you’re probably fine
