        Hi!

Bramble is my 4 month old netherland dwarf doe.

I have just moved house and don’t know any of the neighbours. I still work in my old area so it’s a 1.5 hour commute to my work colleagues.

I just need someone to pop in and check on Bramble whilst we’re away for the weekend. As she’s a single bun for now it would give me piece of mind. She’s shy with strangers so it would only be a 2 minute visit to feed her and check she’s OK.

Any ideas on how to go about finding someone? It would feel a little weird to knock on our neighbours doors and ask if they had a teenager that wanted to babysit our bunny lol.

        Thanks in advance

Do you have a vet in your new area? You could ask him or her if they could recommend any pet sitters. If there are any rabbit rescues in your vicinity, you could also ask them for recommendations.

Having had that problem with my dog and seeing as you commute anyway, (oh I’ve just thought, maybe you commute by train…) could you not leave Bramble with a colleague…? I would prefer to travel that bit further rather than leave rabbit (and housekeys?§) , with a neighbour who i didn’t quite know yet. Or gumtree maybe? or a local petstore maybe have a recommendation….? Petsitting is big time in the UK – you just ahve to find one you can trust and HAS GOOD REFERENCES !!
Local bunny club ? Or rescue centre would (should!) all have good contacts…

            Bramble looks gorgeous !!

It might be worth signing up with RWAF. They have great rabbit info in general, but also a vet  list and boarding list.

These are a few UK based forums you can join or search also.

There are probably groups on Facebook also.

                Good luck!

                  Thanks for the ideas everyone!

I’ve given our vet a call and they’ve said they will get back to me soon – fingers crossed!

P.s. Thanks Vienna. She’s a real looker but definitely a diva to match! :p

Thanks for the advice everyone. We are very lucky! Our local vet nurse has volunteered to come and check on Bramble. She seems really lovely and she’s coming over this week too for a chat and to meet Bramble before we go away

I posted an ad on Kijiji looking for a rabbit sitter and I got quite a few volunteers for the position. I screened through all of the responses and ended up finding a really great bunny sitter. I don’t know if you’ve got something like Kijiji or Craigslist where you are though.
