The last two nights my 1 year old male bun has peed on my bed. He’s been litter trained forever and he’s fixed so I’ve never really had issues with him peeing outside the litter box. Both nights he’s hopped up on my bed, sat himself right next to my head and peed in the same spot. The first night I thought maybe it was because there was a storm and he got scared. But last night I woke up a few seconds before he did it and there was no storm or anything to frighten him. I’m getting really tired of stripping and washing all my linens. I have a mattress cover which prevents the liquid from seeping into the mattress and I’ve been cloroxing it to keep the smell from sticking. I can’t think what could possibly be causing this strange behavior. Please help!

My Bam had a re-lapse of pee-marking the sofa a little more than a year after he was neutered. I think it had to do with spring and increased lenght of day, daylight activates the production of sexual hormones (that’s why hares and cats go love-crazy in March) and even a neutered bunny has some production of testosterone in his adrenal glands.

Anyway, I blocked the sofa off so he couldn’t access it and after a few weeks I could un-block it again because Bam was back to his normal self again, completely uninterested in peeing on the sofa. It hasn’t returned after that, this was 3 years ago.

That said, many buns do like to pee on soft surfaces that has a strong scent of their favorite human.

Argh, my bunny does that too! I’ve ended up closing all the room doors because he keeps peeing on the bed. He’s not allowed to go into the bedrooms. Well, I usually let him into mine as long as he’s not on the bed too long (he LOVES it on the bed, he spreads out the blankets, digs, etc.), but at night he isn’t allowed. I would love to sleep with him on my bed, but I don’t know how to make him stop peeing.
