Looking for any advice! What worked and didn’t work for you while traveling far distances with your bunnies?

We are moving from Chicago to Phoenix and plan to make the trip in 3 days, staying in hotels for two nights. The most we’ll be driving in one day is 10-11 hours and the third day will be significantly shorter.

I plan to transport my little babe in her sturdy carrier, as my research has shown this is the safest option.

I know she’s going to be stressed, the few car trips she’s had to have she hasn’t been a fan of the carrier so I’m a little nervous about the long driving.

Will she be okay if she goes ten hours without eating in the car due to being stressed out? Once we get to the hotel, she’ll have the run of the room and should be fine with eating and drinking.

Please feel free to through any dos & donts my way!

No, rabbits need to eat every six to twelve hours or they can end up very sick and possibly die if they are not taken care of within the next twelve to twenty four hours. For the long drive, youll want to stop to feed her and give her water atleast once every two to three hours. During that time youll want to pet her and make sure shes not too stressed out. At the hotel, make sure she gets attention too so she knows everything is ok

is there any way you can put treats in her carrier? This might help with the stress but I’m unsure. Maybe it’ll give her something to do while in her cage. Maybe put some hay in there for her and then do her main food when you get to where you’re going? Or maybe even put her food in there!
Is there any way you can attach a water bottle to her carrier? A lot of metal ones have the bars that you can twist tie a bottle on or something.
If it were me, I’d make sure Harlow had a lot of her favorite treats and even some hay. Even if it makes a bit of a mess, I’d still feel happy I did everything I could to make such a stressful trip as comfortable as possible.

I’m not exactly experienced with bunnies, so this is just a suggestion.

            Wishing everyone a safe travel!
