Hi my rabbit hope is 2 going on 3 she had a period for like 2-4 weeks where she shed massively . the sheddinghas slowed down significantly and hher new coat came in. This happened just before it started getting extremely cold outside. That confused me because I’d expect that in the summer. However she has not been sick , she’s happy ,binkyng , eating and drinking , goes boom boom and pees normal. But there are some spots of hair in which I can still pull out. Is this normal? I tried using a soft bristle brush. A dedicated small PeT comb and also gently pulling excess out but it seems like I never get it all. What can I do ?

Yes, this is normal. Rabbits actually molt about 4 times a year – about every 3 months. Normally though only two of them are heavy. Sometimes they are an explosion molt where it just poofs out leaving bald spots and tuffs. It can take just a couple of weeks or go on for a month or so. (which is what you are experiencing)

During the heaviest molt, just comb daily — but don’t overcomb. And then as it slows downs (and it can sometimes speed back up) then a few times a week is fine. I do know it can make even the most calm person turn OCD. All that loose hair! Anyway, it’s normal.
